In 800 AS, the Sack of Lukato ruined one of the largest Féni cities in the ancient world, and brought a solemn end to the Masich Expansion War. The sack destroyed thousands of homes, along with taking away the lives of thousands. Lukato was one of the few urban settlements of the Féni, as there were no national states larger than the city during this time period. The King of Lukato was exiled down the Taglo River (Dore River), essentially never to be seen again. This brought the end to the expansion, and oddly enough turned it into something of a draw. No territory was taken, and the rest of Féni land simply fell into disarray.

It remained like this for three years, with the lords of the various nation-states fleeing their hometowns. The farmers ran out of crops, and the army was divided into multiple factions. Lukato, while rebuilding itself somewhat, would fall into full ruins by the eleventh century. However, down the Taglo in the small town of Suwliamo sat an old general named Gwrtheyrn. He had grown up there, but went to fight in the war against the Masich for nearly fifteen years before returning, a broken man. Itching for another taste of war, he set out again, attempting to raise a small army to form some sort of powerful fiefdom. His army quickly multiplied in size, as he used religious and familial ties to gain a following. Not only did he start a movement, he started a cult around himself. After his army reached a thousand, he had essentially unified the towns of both the Vivis and Cadisc tribes (Vivisci and Casdisci). He declared himself "King of the Féni", a title representing his rule over the Féni people. The term had not yet been put into massive use, only really used by Israelis in the far east to use as a group word. From there, he gained power as a unifier of the people, not simply the "fighters of the Masich" as they were twenty years before. He had created a cultural identity, and established links between barely-connected towns. After this, Gwrtheyrn set his eyes to the north, expanding his power away from the "dirty" Masich.
